Ganesh Chaturthi Recipes | Vinayagar Chaturthi | Vinayaka Chavithi Recipes 2014
Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayakar Chavithi falls on August 29th 2014 this year and Vinayakar Chaturthi is celebrated to mark birth of Lord Ganesha, worshiped as God of Wisdom, good fortune, prosperity and all Hindu worship Ganesha before starting any work even we worship Ganesh when we buy anything new doesn't matter whether it's house, car, tv or even a laptop. Ganesh Chaturthi known as Ganesh Ustav observed in the month of Bhaadrapada in Hindu calender usually between Aug-Sep in the year.
Ganesh or Vinayagar Chaturthi is celebrated 10 days, on 11th day Ganesh statue is immersed in river or sea which again a big event by itself. During this period large, colorful Ganesh statues are installed in temporary Pandals (mandapas) where morning and evening prayers held with much fun fare and public visit pandals. It's one of my favorite activity to visit various pandals doesn't matter in which city I'm it's such a fun activity and ofcourse where there is festivals there has to befood good food.
Each Indian state has it's own custom which also includes for food so Ganesh Chaturthi Naivedyam changes from state to state, here I'm listing few of the recipes covering various state which will be useful for you. Famous and important Naivedyam recipes are modak, ladoo, kuzhakattai, karanji also known as kolukattai, kudumulu, panchakajjaya, sundal, vada etc, I have included fat-free, sugar-free recipes along with few vegan recipes too, I am listing recipes more keeping in mind for Naivedyam specially for people praying 2 times a day for 10 days have to think what to make for Naivedyam each time can be time consuming so hope this you find it useful, for more recipes refer Recipe Index.
