Olive & Herbs Focaccia Bread

Baking own bread is always pleasure, I wanted to try focaccia for a very long time and finally I baked this focaccia with olive and herbs along with Plum Streusel Muffins.  Focaccia (pronounced as Fo-Ka-Cha) is Italian flat bread with topping of any choice.  Perfect to have it as it is or when focaccia is warm try it dipped in olive oil it taste fabulous, or use this bread to make any sandwich of your choice for a mostly tasty sandwich or a side for soup.

I used my favorite herbs along with olive as topping, you can use any thing of your choice with fresh herbs to slice red onion, garlic, tomato etc.  Writing this post now I want to bake some focaccia again, if you like bread baking then you going to love this one.

Ingredients for Olive & Herbs Focaccia Bread

Plain Flour – 3 Cups
Garlic Powder – 1 tbsp
Salt – To Taste or 1tsp
Olive Oil – 4 tbsp
Active Dry Yeast – 1 tbsp
Warm Water – 1 1/2 Cups
Sugar – 1 tbsp
Pitted Slice Olive – 3 tbsp
Italian Herbs – 1 tbsp

Method
1. In a bowl mix yeast, sugar and 1/2 cup of warm water, give a good stir to dissolve yeast and keep aside for 10 minutes until yeast becomes frothy.
2. In a large bowl sieve flour, salt & garlic powder.

3. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and mix well with flour.  Make a small well in center and add yeast mix and water to form soft dough.
4. Add 1 tbsp of oil and knead in to elastic dough.  Grease a bowl with oil and place dough, cover with a damp cloth set side for 45 minutes or until dough double in size.

5. Punch the dough to  release air, add 1 tbsp of oil and knead again for 2 minutes, grease a baking pan with oil and spread dough.  Keep aside for another 20 minutes or it’s double in size.

6. Preheat oven in 200C.  Gently poke the dough all over with index finger, drizzle remaining oil, sprinkle Italian herbs and place olive.

7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden focaccia sounds hallow when tapped on top.

Best is served warm.  Have as it is or use for any sandwich of your choice.

Have a nice day ~~
